김서울 | SEOUL KIM

Seoul Kim works with memory, time and the quiet traces of everyday life. Her works often begin with things that have been kept, folded away or preserved, treating the surface as a place where personal memories and passing time can accumulate.

Based in a practice developed through painting and printmaking, Kim has exhibited extensively in Korea, Japan and internationally. She holds an MA and PhD from Tama Art University, Tokyo, and has received recognition at major international printmaking exhibitions, including the CWAJ Award in Tokyo, the Duguay Prize at the Trois-Rivières International Contemporary Art Biennial in Canada, the Honourable Mention at the Krakow International Print Triennial, and the Grand Prize in printmaking at the Shunyo-kai Exhibition in Japan.

Her work is held in collections including Rhode Island School of Design Museum (RISD Museum), the Opera City Cultural Foundation in Tokyo, Kochi Prefectural Museum of Art, Seattle City Hall, Bangkok National Cultural Arts Centre, Museum SAN, and the Korea Art Bank.
